Shipwreck on Plum Island

It may sound like the title to an insanely over-the-top dramatic piece of cinema,
but it's really a tale of stupidity. The way I was told the story, the captain of this
ship THOUGH he knew the right way to in to wherever it was he was going and he
chose the WRONG way. Now the ship, the crane and the whole shebang is way up
on the beach at Plum Island and is unsalvageable. But... their loss is OUR gain in
that it made for some pretty spectacular photographs and my first time out on
the beach in the winter time...

(Official report from the U.S. Coast Guard News)

Look what washed up on the beach...

Mad Martha's on Plum Island

is an amazingly charming and cool place
right off the main road that goes right to
the end of Plum Island where Crissie &
I had breakfast one chilly December
morning. She was dealing with a cold
(not to mention injuries incurred while
trying to give a friend's cat a necessary
injection)... I, on the other hand was merely
dealing with cool new surroundings...

F.Y.I. - Mad Martha's is on Plum Island
Mad Martha's is basically the first
floor of a house that seats about 30
people or so at some great retro dinette
tables, some having all kinds of photos
under a layer of plastic set atop the
tabletop. We went there for breakfast
and I had the "Special Omelete" which
was "special" because it had salmon,
brie and spinach in it, served along
with potatoes and Portuguese sweet
bread, which was VERY yummy...
